In English to be “given stick” or to “receive stick” is to be given a problem, flack or palaver, and prehistory was harsh and tough. Also, in prehistory, prehistoric man had nothing but “sticks” and stones to make SPEARS and arrows out of and the dead ringer is that Neanderthal Adolf Hitler is holding a long stick or SPEAR which is the tangent.
